Flight Training Europe (FTEJerez) is a dedicated aviation training academy that enjoys international recognition as one of the most prestigious airline pilot training organisations in Europe, training the future captains for a wide range of prominent airline partners such as Aer Lingus, British Airways, Emirates, Flybe, Qatar Airways, Vueling and many more.

FTEJerez is a direct descendant of the prestigious British Aerospace Flying College at Prestwick, Scotland. In 1999 the school was relocated to Jerez and became Flight Training Europe, S.L. (FTEJerez) in 2003.

This lineage of quality airline pilot training has been preserved and enhanced, as FTEJerez has established itself as one of the world’s finest airline pilot training establishments, renowned for its exceptional integrated ATPL course: The Airline First Officer Programme.

With more than 25 years of history, FTEJerez has trained over 2,000 quality pilots who are now flying for more than 50 different airlines.

All aspects of the package provided at Jerez are delivered by our own staff, with no elements outsourced to other organisations. As a consequence we have total control of the process from accommodation, meals, aircraft and simulator maintenance through to ground, flight and simulator training.

Our instructors are without exception highly motivated, charismatic individuals with fascinating aviation backgrounds and a wealth of knowledge and aviation experience. They are passionate about what they do and are committed to help you realise your potential to become an exceptional pilot.

At FTEJerez all training and accommodation is delivered from one location: a state-of-the-art campus offering a unique training environment that allows a close interaction of our ATC and pilot training students.

All campus facilities, including the ATC and pilot training classrooms and simulators, aircraft fleet and hangars, sport facilities (gymnasium, swimming pool, sport courts…), social club and a canteen providing 3 hot meals a day, are just a few minutes’ walk from each cadet’s private air-conditioned en-suite bedroom.

FTEJerez is located in the Andalusian city of Jerez de la Frontera. Jerez is considered as Spain’s Sherry wine and horse capital and is also the home of Flamenco. Jerez is also close to Andalusia’s capital, Seville, and to the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, both featuring international airports. For maximum convenience, Jerez International Airport is adjacent to the campus and is connected with London, Madrid, Barcelona and several other European destinations, with regular scheduled flights.

Although the priority at FTEJerez is your airline pilot training, the regional culture of world renown, almost 300 days of sun per year, the climate, local gastronomy and stunning surroundings, allow you to relax in style over the weekends and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

From our fantastic campus located in Southern Spain, FTEJerez offers the renowned Airline First Officer Programme (AFOP): a residential and integrated course taking students with little or no previous flying experience to the beginning of a career as an airline pilot in approximately 15 months. After successful completion of the course, cadets are issued with an EASA frozen ATPL. This licence allows you to work as a First Officer with an airline and, in time, become a captain. In addition to the ATPL training, you will also be given instruction in other key areas not covered by the EASA syllabus, such as Assertiveness, Flight Deck Management and Threat & Error Management, that will become a second nature to you. The AFOP will not only help to start your airline career with flying colours, but offer a lifelong skillset that is unique in the market and will make you stand out during your entire career. Other highlights of the AFOP are: An average intake of 14 students per course, enabling FTEJerez to deliver very personal attention to the individual needs of each student. Courses commencing each month, allowing flexibility of choice. All training and accommodation consolidated in one site: a purpose-built campus in the vicinity of the Jerez International Airport, Spain. Over 300 days of sunshine per year. Dedicated welfare officers assisting with medical, personal and visa issues. All flying hours under EASA airspace and from/to international airports (Jerez, Malaga, Seville, Faro…) Ground School instructors with a combined experience of over 50,000 flying hours and lecturing in no more than 3 subjects each. Entry Requirements Age: A minimum of 17½ years at the point of applying and at least 18 years of age to commence training at FTEJerez. Academics: A minimum of five GCSE passes at level C or above (or international equivalents) including English, Mathematics, and at least one science subject is necessary. Although not essential, Physics is highly desirable. English: All training is delivered in English. Sufficient written and oral English language is a prerequisite. FTEJerez will assess a cadet’s level of English as part of the selection process to ensure that students have the required standard for all elements of flight training. Intensive Aviation English Courses are also available at FTEJerez for those students who might require them. Medical: Candidates must be in good health and able to achieve the standard required for the EASA Class 1 medical examination. Enrolment Airline Captains of tomorrow require a unique skill-set, which is a combination of excellent technical skills, good airmanship and managerial talent. Our pilot assessment is designed to discover your airline captaincy potential and to see if you have the talent and motivation to become an FTEJerez cadet. Our assessments are free of charge and take place during our ‘First Step to the Flight Deck’ events that are held once a month. In March 2008 it became a legal requirement for all pilots flying internationally to hold a minimum ICAO level 4 in English. FTEJerez developed a unique testing system and in April 2010 became the first organisation to be formally approved by the UK CAA to conduct English Language Proficiency (ELP) testing. As well as being at the forefront of English language testing, FTEJerez has developed an Aviation English course to enable potential cadets to obtain ICAO level 4 standard. Specifically designed for those cadets who have an insufficient level of English, FTEJerez can offer this 11-week Intensive Aviation English course delivered at our campus. Contents Focused Grammar/Structure Vocabulary Pronunciation Aviation Vocabulary Functional English in Aviation context Spelling Role-play Communicative activities Simulations Reading comprehension Listening comprehension Language games Writing Classes will run from 9.00 – 14.00 every day. Everyday means Mon to Fri inclusive; Weekends are free of lessons. Classes will be 4 hours per day in the classroom with occasional 15 minutes breaks. Students will be required to complete homework/worksheets/projects set which cover another 2 hours per day 5 days a week. They will also have the opportunity to sit in on ground school classes later in the course. Combined EASA CPL (A) and IR (A)

Aim of the Course The aim of combining back-to-back CPL (A) and IR (A) modular flying training courses is to train PPL (A) holders to the level of proficiency necessary for the issue of a CPL (A), a Multi-Engine Piston Airplanes (Land) Class Rating and IR (A), enabling them to operate for hire and reward under instrument flight rules and in instrument meteorological conditions. The course we are going to offer will result in the issue of the MEP class rating, the instrument rating and the CPL. The FTEJerez course consists of the basic instrument flight module of the IR, the procedural instrument flight module of the IR, the MEP class rating and the CPL itself. Entry Requirements Before commencing a modular CPL (A) and IR (A) Training Course an applicant shall: Be the holder of a PPL (A), to include a night rating, issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1. EASA FRTOL, but this can be completed at FTEJerez. Have completed 157 hours flight time as a pilot of which 100 hours must be as PIC. Have completed 300nm qualifying cross country flight. Have completed the 5 hours night flying requirement including the 5 solo night take offs and landings. Have passed the EASA theoretical knowledge examinations for CPL (A) and IR (A), or ATPL (A). If the theory examinations were completed under any authority except the UK CAA, they must be accredited by the UK Authority before commencing the course. Class 1 Medical certificate. Proof of ELP level certification (certificate or it could be a licence entry). Training Programme 10 hours Piper Warrior II. 35.5 hours Piper Seneca III (including 2.5 hours for the CPL (A) skill test / Multi-Engine Piston Airplanes (Land) (MEP) Class Rating test and 2 hours for the IR (A) skill test). 42.5 hours Piper Seneca III based FNPT2 STD training. Computer Based Training plus briefs. All flying training is dual instruction. The aim of this course is to provide advanced training for recently qualified CPL (A) / ME IR (A) licence holders with low hours to an airline entry-level knowledge, handling and operation of a large Jet-Engine Aeroplane. The JOC meets all the requirements of the EASA Part-FCL MCC course. This course is now included in our Integrated ATPL training and is also available to modular students. We also tailor our JOC to meet specific operational procedures for Partner Airlines that request it. Entry Requirements Before commencing a JOC course an applicant must be the holder of an EASA CPL with a current Multi-Engine IR (A) endorsement, provide copies of their EASA Part-FCL Licence, current Medical and proof of English Language Proficiency (if applicable).
