Course in Aircraft Engineering

Estonian Aviation Academy
Campus Sepenuh masa August 2018 Estonia Ülenurme

After the completion of the studies in Aircraft Engineering it is possible to work as an aviation engineer or as a maintenance technician at an enterprise manufacturing or carrying out maintenance procedures on aircraft. [+]

What are you educated and trained to become?

The field of aviation has arisen, grown and developed, first and foremost, due to the development of aviation engineering – due to technical solutions that enable to move around without any contact with the ground. Creating such technical solutions – designing, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance of aircraft therefore provides a format and content to everything taking place in aviation.

The work of an aviation engineer comprises creation of high-tech solutions or maintenance procedures in the field of mechanics, mechatronics as well as electronics. The skills and experience enable the respective specialist to work in other fields which require application of high-tech solutions to solve technical problems: automotive industry, rail transport etc. ... Aircraft Piloting

Estonian Aviation Academy
Campus Sepenuh masa August 2018 Estonia Ülenurme

After successfully passing the theoretical knowledge examinations and rating flights the pilot-trainees receive the Commercial Pilot Licence/Instrument Rating (CPL(A)/IR). [+]

The standard period of study is four years. The training course of aeroplane piloting is based on the programme developed pursuant to the Joint Aviation Requirements – Flight Crew Licensing (JAR-FCL 1). During the first two years the main focus is on basic aviation studies and the last two years are devoted to acquiring the theoretical knowledge of piloting followed by flying training.

In flying training the aircraft used are the one-engine Cessna-172 and the multi-engine Piper Navajo. Part of the flying training takes place on the computer based simulator - FNPT II/MCC (flight and navigation procedures and multi-crew cooperation trainer). At the initial stage of flying practice the students learn the basic phases of a flight (take-off, level flight, turns, landing, etc), acquire the skills in en-route flying in visual flight conditions and get acquainted with the principles of instrument flight. The theoretical and ground preparation continues simultaneously with flying training. ... [-]

Management of Aviation Communication and Navigation Systems

Estonian Aviation Academy
Campus Sepenuh masa August 2018 Estonia Ülenurme

During their studies the students of the speciality of Aviation Communication and Navigation Systems Management (the technicians and engineers-to-be) learn different aviation related disciplines, physics and mathematics. [+]

Air traffic control and dissemination of necessary information takes place by aviation communication systems which ensure safe and smooth flow of air traffic in the air space.

The navigation systems provide information on an aircraft's position and enable precise navigation during the whole flight – from its take-off from the departure aerodrome to the landing at the destination aerodrome. Surveillance equipment and systems are used for the surveillance of the aircraft and their traffic in the air. The most traditional surveillance devices are radars but, alongside, new technologies are taken into use as well – ADS-B and MLAT systems.

During their studies the students of the speciality of Aviation Communication and Navigation Systems Management (the technicians and engineers-to-be) learn different aviation related disciplines, physics and mathematics. They acquire speciality knowledge of electrical engineering and radio technology, electronics, information technology, data processing and of many other fields. During the whole course of studies the practical skills in the management of the systems, the ability to evaluate technical parameters and the skills in testing the devices and equipment are developed. ... Air Traffic Services

Estonian Aviation Academy
Campus Sepenuh masa August 2018 Estonia Ülenurme

The course for aviation engineers lasts for four years and the volume of studies is 240 ECTS credits. The study process falls into three phases: [+]

In the speciality of Air Traffic Services it is possible to specialize to become an Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) whose task is to ensure regular and smooth air traffic in the air space of the country. Air Traffic Control Officers are responsible for arranging safe and efficient air traffic. They manage en-route traffic, help pilots pass other aircraft, find a safe route through the fog or stormy weather and, finally, land safely at the aerodrome. Depending on their rating ATCOs work in different air traffic control units. The studies of the speciality of Air Traffic Services are organised by the Academy Air Traffic Service Training Department. All of the members of our teaching staff have experience in real air traffic control. Our basic aim is to support and develop motivated students in acquiring the profession of an Air Traffic Control Officer. The standard period of study is four years. In the study process the standards of Estonian professional higher education and those of international aviation are followed. The acquiring of the specific procedures and working methods of air traffic control as well as the skills in radio communication takes place in specially equipped laboratories, i.e. in computer-based simulators. In two recent years the practice has taken place in air traffic control units of air traffic service providers. The already practising Air Traffic Control Officers return to the Academy now and then to take the required refresher or continuing education courses. The course for aviation engineers lasts for four years and the...
